Separate permanent and temporary leads
Identify equipment that stays at the desk and devices that leave every day. Keep daily charging and laptop connections accessible. Label both ends of look-alike leads, especially where similar plugs perform different jobs.
Allow for movement
If the desk changes height, test its full travel with cables loosely arranged before fastening anything. Leave suitable slack without loops that catch feet or chair wheels. Use fittings appropriate to the surface and never drill where electrical wiring or other services may be present.
Keep power equipment safe
Follow power-strip and charger instructions, including load and ventilation limits. Do not chain strips together or bury warm adapters under fabric. Maintain access to switches and plugs. Check the arrangement after moving a monitor or adding a dock rather than assuming the original slack still works.
