Match the equipment

Use a charger and cable compatible with the phone’s supported requirements. Check the condition of connectors and insulation. A cable that charges intermittently when bent is a reason to replace or investigate the equipment, not a permanent positioning solution.

Leave room for heat

Follow the phone’s charging-temperature and placement guidance. Avoid covering the device with bedding or leaving it in direct sunlight while connected. If wireless charging is supported, align the phone as instructed and remove unsuitable objects between the phone and charger.

Use the phone’s own controls

Review any supported battery-health or optimised-charging options in the device settings. Their names and operation vary, so use the current manual. A swollen battery, damaged connector or unusual heat requires stopping use and obtaining appropriate support rather than trying another overnight charge.
