Measure it in use
Check the footprint with the drawer or lid fully open. Allow the clearances required by the exact model and keep exhaust paths away from unsuitable surfaces. Do not assume a cupboard shelf is safe for operation just because the appliance fits there when switched off.
Plan the hot handover
Have a stable, suitable place for the hot drawer and food. Keep the cable clear of edges and water, and follow the electrical connection instructions. A cramped corner that requires reaching across another hot appliance is not a useful everyday location.
Think about cleaning access
You need space to remove the basket and handle grease after everything has cooled. Check which parts are removable and how they should be washed. Liners and accessories must be allowed by the manufacturer; loose material can obstruct airflow or move towards a heating element.
