Try your normal position
Wear the headphones while sitting as you usually work or relax. Check pressure around the ears and at the top of the head. If you wear glasses, try them together. A short shop demonstration may not reveal how the cushions feel during a longer session.
Check the controls
Find volume, pause and microphone controls without looking. Consider whether a cable pulls across the desk or a wireless pair can connect to the devices you actually use. Noise cancellation and passive isolation are different features; neither makes a poor physical fit comfortable.
Listen without compensating
Use a comfortable level and take listening breaks. If you keep raising the volume to overcome surroundings, reconsider the location or isolation rather than simply accepting louder playback. Check replacement cushion availability and cleaning instructions, because the parts touching your skin will need care.
